Course Description If you want to fully understand 3D Printing, this is the course for you. This course starts with the fundamentals of 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, and brings you on a step-by-step journey to your first 3D print using the Ultimaker 2+ 3D printer. We will show you how 3D printers work, the materials they use and the difference between additive manufacturing and traditional manufacturing. We will walk through the 3D printing workflow, from where you get your designs, how to convert those designs into gcode the 3D printer can understand, to finally printing off your design on an Ultimaker 2+ printer. We will show you how to setup and operate the Ultimaker 2+ printer, how to carry out the basic maintenance procedures required. How to modify the characteristics of your 3D print using CURA slicing software, to ensure your 3D print is optimised. We will introduce 3D modelling using Tinkercad and 3D scanning.
