Company History

SurfBox® was established in 2004, when college friends, Thomas Marry and Declan Lennon spotted a gap in the market for high speed internet kiosks. From small beginnings supplying a few local hotels, today, SurfBox® is the largest coin and credit card operated Internet Kiosk provider in Ireland. SurfBox® manage over 550 internet kiosks in airports, hotels, shopping centers and ferries throughout Europe.

The Kilkenny based company is an associate member of the Irish Hotel Federation and Airport Operators Association in the UK, and has won a number of prestigious County Enterprise Board and Chamber of Commerce Awards including “Best Small Business of the Year” in 2008. In 2008, following a competitive tender, Surfbox® was chosen to supply Dublin Airport with “pay as you go” internet access kiosks. The service was quickly introduced to Shannon and Cork Airports and now can be found in Airports across Europe.

Enterprise Ireland has flagged Surfbox® as a high potential start up business and support our endeavors to expand across Europe. Surfbox® continues to blaze a trail with the introduction of Ireland’s first internet kiosk at sea! Now passengers on Irish Ferries, the Isle of Inishmor, Ulysses and Oscar Wilde can browse the internet, stay on top of work and arrange onward travel whether on land or sea!

In what is fast becoming an internet dependant society, demand for “Pay As You Go” internet kiosks is on a continuous upward spiral. We are currently expanding our network throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe.
